We love lanterns.  They are classy and chic….and a great way to update any room in your home.

Whatever space you are decorating, lantern lights work perfectly. They work as coastal lighting, beach lighting and any kind of  lighting for any kind of room.

So what makes lanterns so special indoors and out? Not just their good looks and charm. Lanterns have a long cultural history.

According to wikipedia, “lanterns were first spoken of by Theopompus, a Greek comic poet, and Empedocles of Agrigentum. And the ancient Chinese sometimes captured fireflies in transparent or semi-transparent containers and used them as (short-term) lanterns. Lanterns also are used in many Chinese festivals. During the Ghost Festival, lotus shaped lanterns are set afloat in rivers and seas to guide the lost souls of forgotten ancestors to the afterlife. During the Lantern Festival, the displaying of many lanterns is still a common sight on the 15th day of the first lunar month throughout China.”

We love their historic relevance but we love them even more in unexpected places in the home.

We love them in the bathroom.
